Art Therapy
A blank canvas sits on the easel. No words required. Art therapy gives you a way to express what feels too heavy to say out loud. At McKinney Recovery, it is a core part of your treatment plan, not an extra. Your loved one can heal through creating.
How Art Therapy Works in Treatment
A blank canvas sits on the table. You do not need to draw well to use it.
In an art therapy session, you or your loved one might paint, sketch, or work with clay. A licensed therapist watches and asks gentle questions. Some feelings are hard to say out loud. Color and shape can carry them instead.
This helps with anxiety, trauma, cravings, and the guilt that often follows addiction. It is never the whole plan. Our clinicians fold it into your wider treatment and adjust the approach as you make progress.
