Neurofeedback
A sensor rests against your scalp. On the screen, your brain activity plays back in real time. That feedback loop is the heart of neurofeedback, one of the core modalities we build into treatment plans at McKinney Recovery. It helps you or your loved one retrain patterns tied to stress and addiction.
How Neurofeedback Works in Treatment
Neurofeedback starts with sensors placed gently on your scalp. They read your brain's electrical activity while you sit and watch a screen or listen to sound. Your brain gets small cues when it settles into calmer patterns. Over time, it learns to hold those patterns on its own.
This can ease anxiety, sleep problems, and the racing thoughts that often follow early recovery. Your clinicians read each session's data closely. They adjust the settings as your loved one improves. Neurofeedback works alongside therapy and other care, never in place of it.
